8th International Conference for Plant Mitochondrial Biology

The Conference aims to allow the exchange of ideas and results between researchers from all over the world that study plant mitochondrial biology using different approaches. The field is particularly exciting considering recent advances in the manipulation of the mitochondrial genome and the identification of mitochondrial components involved in cell signaling transduction pathways.
Specific topics will include:
Evolution of the plant mitochondrial genome.
Expression of the plant mitochondrial genome, with emphasis in post-transcriptional expression mechanisms (splicing, RNA editing).
Mitochondrial biogenesis; import mechanisms of proteins and nucleic acids.
Assembly of mitochondrial respiratory complexes.
Interaction and signaling between the nucleus and mitochondria, anterograde and retrograde signaling.
Mitochondrial energetic metabolism in photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic cells.
The role of mitochondrial respiration in photosynthetic and photorespiratory metabolism.
Unique metabolic properties of plant mitochondria.
Mitochondria and plant stress responses.
The role of mitochondrial function in plant development and reproduction.
