10th annual symposium Centre for Medical Systems Biology

On October 14 and 15, the Centre for Medical Systems Biology organises its 10th annual CMSB symposium at the Stadsgehoorzaal (Aalmarktzaal), Aalmarkt 7 in Leiden. The symposium is free of charge for everyone interested.

The programme will highlight ten years of CMSB research applying to the CMSB theme "Improving diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common and rare diseases". We will look back on all our successes so far and discuss future plans.

+ show speakers and program
Our principal investigators will present their findings covering the five main CMSB research programme diseases: Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, depression, metabolic syndrome and migraine, and the two platforms Immunology and DIAL (Data Integration, Analysis and Logistics). Also the applications of genomics in society will be highlighted. Each part is divided in two: an overview story, looking back on all achievements and presenting the latest developments within that field, and an in-depth presentation. In addition, Prof. Dorret Boomsma and Prof. Guus Smit will present their results in biobanking and neuroscience in light of CMSB.

We have invited three keynote speakers for this 10th symposium: Dr. Hans Schikan, CEO of Prosensa; Prof. Laurence Hunter, Director of the University of Colorado's Computational Bioscience Program and a Professor of Pharmacology and Computer Science; and Prof. Rick Myers, Faculty Investigator, Director and President of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, Alabama.
