SB@NL2014 Symposium - Symposium of the Netherlands Platform for Systems Biology

The overarching theme of this year’s systems biology symposium of the Netherlands Systems Biology Platform (SB@NL) is: Tackling Complexity through Data Integration.
The programme consists of seven sessions, each covering an area within the wide field of systems biology.
All presentations will be plenary – no parallel sessions are programmed.
Sessions will feature one keynote by an international, invited speaker, one presentation by a senior scientist from the region (NL/BE/LU/DE), and two presentations by more junior scientists. These latter presentations will be selected from submitted abstracts.
The following sessions are programmed:
1. Systems and personalised medicine
2. Network biology
3. Bioinformatics
4. Integrating data in the life sciences
5. Systems biology applications (ERASysAPP)
6. Systems biology of microbial cells
7. Systems biology of multicellular organisms

The SB@NL2014 symposium is the 2nd symposium jointly organised by the partners of the Netherlands Platform for Systems Biology (SB@NL). The SB@NL symposia continued the series of four annual NCSB symposia held in the years 2009-2012.

Firstly, the fact that the Dutch systems biology community has joined forces with the bioinformatics community in the new Netherlands Bioinformatics and Systems Biology research school (BioSB), a bioinformatics session will be part of the SB@NL2014 programme.
Secondly, we are making a move from a nation-wide symposium towards a European symposium: this year partners in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany will be invited to join the symposium.
And last but not least, we will also literally move towards Europe: SB@NL2014 will be held near to the three-country-point (NL-BE-DE) in the south-east corner of the Netherlands. The times they are a-changin…, but our aim remain the same: to bring together systems biologists and to showcase excellent research.
